Let's Talk About the Holy Spirit

by Rose Taylor

Every week you’ll find different types of posts here on the ABS blog. Today’s post is for teachers, to encourage conversation and reflection in your Bible study group. Each “Let’s Talk About” activity can be used at any time during your meeting and lasts approximately 10-15 minutes.

Today, let's talk about...

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

But this is precisely what is written: God has prepared things for those who love him that no eye has seen, or ear has heard, or that haven’t crossed the mind of any human being. God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, including the depths of God.

The apostle Paul wanted the Corinthian believers to have faith in the power of God instead of human wisdom. The blessings God has prepared for those who love God are beyond human reasoning and understanding. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that the wonders of God can be understood. The Holy Spirit helps us in our understanding of God because the Holy Spirit is God—the third of the Godhead or Trinity.

Questions to Discuss:

What are some unexpected things God has done for you?

What has God revealed to you through the Holy Spirit?

Why do you think the Holy Spirit understands the depths of God?

Take Away:

This week pray to become more aware of the power of the Holy Spirit at work in your life; that you will submit to the guidance and will of the Holy Spirit; and for the protection of the Holy Spirit. Give thanks to God for the gift of the Holy Spirit.
