Let's Talk About Moving Forward in Hope

by Rose Taylor

Every week you’ll find different types of posts here on the ABS blog. Today’s post is for teachers, to encourage conversation and reflection in your Bible study group. Each “Let’s Talk About” activity can be used at any time during your meeting and lasts approximately 10-15 minutes.

Today, let's talk about..

Philippians 3:13

Brothers and sisters, I myself don’t think I’ve reached it, but I do this one thing: I forget about the things behind me and reach out for the things ahead of me. —Philippians 3:13

Paul’s main goal in life was to please Christ and live out Christ’s purpose for his life. Paul did not feel he had yet reached this goal due to failures and mistakes, including a past in which he worked against Christ. He was determined not to allow his past to keep him from moving ahead toward his goal and purpose. Like Paul, we may not have attained our spiritual goals or lived fully in God’s purpose for our lives during 2021, but we must move ahead into 2022 with the hope of better results.

 Questions to Discuss:

What are some situations or events from 2021 you would like to leave behind?

What are your hopes for 2022?

How do you envision your spiritual life in the coming year?
