Let's Talk About Giving Thanks for Our Blessings
Psalm 105:1-2
Give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make his deeds known to all people! Sing to God; sing praises to the Lord; dwell on all his wondrous works.
Commentary:
The author of Psalm 105 is unknown, but the theme of the psalm is voiced in many other psalms: The blessings of the Lord are to be remembered, praised, and passed on to others.
We have a tendency to dwell on negative events, situations, and memories. This anonymous psalmist encouraged people to dwell on the wondrous works of God. In fact, all God’s works are to be considered, not just a few. Some people have difficulty sharing with others about blessings received from God. According to the beginning verses of Psalm 105, we should be so thankful for our blessings that we not only give exuberant thanks and praise directly to God but also enthusiastically tell others about what God has done in our lives.
Questions to Discuss:
What emotions do you feel as you meditate on your blessings?
How often recently have you told others about God’s blessings in your life?
