Let's Talk About Fellowship
Every week you’ll find different types of posts here on the ABS blog. Today’s post is for teachers, to encourage conversation and reflection in your Bible study group. Each “Let’s Talk About” activity can be used at any time during your meeting and lasts approximately 10-15 minutes.
Today, let's talk about..
HUG OF FELLOWSHIP
Acts 20:36-38
After he said these things, he knelt down with all of them to pray. They cried uncontrollably as everyone embraced and kissed Paul. They were especially grieved by his statement that they would never see him again. Then they accompanied him to the ship. —Acts 20:36-38
Commentary:
As Paul planned to travel to Jerusalem, the Holy Spirit revealed that trouble and danger awaited him there. He visited the elders at Ephesus and reminded them of his teachings, encouraged them, and bade them farewell. He then told them what had been revealed by the Holy Spirit. They shared an emotional farewell hug, knowing it was the last time they would see one another.
Questions to discuss:
How do you think a hug expresses friendship/fellowship?
What emotions might be experienced during a farewell hug?
Have you ever hugged someone, knowing you would not see the person again?
