Every week you’ll find different types of posts here on the ABS blog. Today’s post is for individuals, to encourage personal reflection and Bible study.
“The most ancient God is a place of safety; the eternal arms are a support.” —Deuteronomy 33:27a
This verse inspires me and provides such an assurance of security. In my mind, I see an image of being held securely in God’s eternal arms. No hurt, harm, or danger is able to come near me when I’m in the strength of God’s loving embrace.
Sometimes we become so focused on what we need and desire in this world that we forget it is in God that we live, move, and have our being. I often wish I had someone to hug me, hold me, and assure me that all will be well. During my alone time with God, I am reminded that my desires are fulfilled in God’s precious presence.
Many times the world and its harsh realities come crashing in on us, threatening to consume and destroy our comfort, joy, and peace. It’s during these times that we should consciously decide to move to a quiet place; take a deep, cleansing breath; and imagine ourselves being hugged by the eternal God who invites us into the intimacy of a loving relationship.
